The doors of the yellow train close. And slowly it begins: the journey into the mountain. Two and a half kilometers deep into the heart of the Radhausberg mountain – where warmth, silence, and the natural noble gas radon work together. A place where time stands still and the body can regenerate. Sessions in the Gastein Healing Gallery are more than just a medical treatment – for many guests, they are a ritual and also a bit of an adventure, with great health benefits. The day of the first session begins with medical care: a preliminary examination, a short check-up to ensure that the body and circulation are ready for what follows. Then it's off to the changing room – with a bathrobe, towel, and swimwear. Before the first visit, there is a good deal of information to absorb: an introductory talk explains what happens in the tunnel, how the healing climate works, and why heat, humidity, and radon together create a unique form of therapy. Later, the train sets off. A slight jolt, dark rock, increasing heat. And finally, silence. Once you arrive in the therapy area, your stay begins in Station I – at around 37°C and medium humidity. Those who can tolerate it can progress step by step to higher temperature and humidity levels with each subsequent trip. The stay in the Healing Gallery lasts around one hour. Women and men lie separately. The session is accompanied by medical professionals. After the return journey, there is a period of rest. The stay in the mountain then comes to an end in one of the relaxation rooms. Our doctors recommend around 30 minutes – this allows the body's self-healing powers to be optimally activated.
