By Bus or Train

Timetables & online information for buses and trains

Euro- and Intercity trains, fast trains, and express trains stop at the station in Bad Gastein. There are convenient taxi and bus connections to the various parts of town. The nearest motorail  loading point is in Schwarzach-St. Veit im Pongau or Bischofshofen. A delivery and collection service by taxi is available for luggage transfers. A station shuttle is also offered.

By Car

  • From Munich , approx. 3 hours' drive.
  • From Salzburg , approx. 1.5 hours' drive. Take the Tauern motorway south to Bischofshofen (Gasteiner Tal exit), then federal highway 167 to Gasteinertal – Böckstein.
  • From Innsbruck , approx. 3 hours' drive. Motorway via Wörgl, federal highway 312 to Lofer, federal highway 311 to Lend, federal highway 167 to Gastein.
  • Coming from the south (Carinthia), drive via Villach, Obervellach to Mallnitz – from there take the Tauernbahn motorail train – ÖBB to the Gastein Valley.

The nearest airports are in Salzburg (approx. 100 km), Munich (approx. 230 km), and Klagenfurt (approx. 125 km). A taxi service is available for luggage transfers.
